Heat recovery ventilation systems

Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV) is also known as mechanical ventilation heat recovery. It is an energy recovery ventilation system that uses equipment known as heat recovery units. This employs a counter-flow heat exchange between the inbound and outbound air flow. HRV provides fresh air and improved climate control, while also saving pm energy by reducing the heating (or cooling) requirements by reclaiming up to 60% of the heat cooling from the extracted air.

Swift Air Ventilation Ltd’s design, fabrication and installation departments have more than 40 years' experience in the design and installation of Heat Recovery Systems. Our qualified engineers can provide you with the perfect solution for all your heat recovery requirements.

Kitchen ventilation systems

Kitchen ventilation is required to create a safe and comfortable working environment. Catering and cooking can produce significant quantities of fumes and vapours, as well as a lot of heat. Ventilation is necessary to remove these and discharge them to a safe external location. This is usually achieved by mechanical extraction via a canopy hood installed overcooking appliances. It is particularly important to provide adequate make-up air for gas fired appliances. The lack of an adequate supply of air can lead to incomplete combustion and the accumulation of combustion products, such as carbon monoxide.

Kitchen ventilation systems should be designed to comply with DW172 and Gas Safety Regulations 1998. The ventilation system should also provide general ventilation throughout the kitchen.
